Twenty Columbia-Area High School Students Build Laptop Computers

Friday, February 18, 2011

Twenty Columbia-area high school students have experienced hands-on learning at its best. Spanning three Saturdays in February, students had the opportunity to learn about and develop an interest in information technology (IT), while becoming aware of IT-related career fields through the Create IT Computer Camp.

Computer CampThe students received training on computer architecture, application development, large-scale computing and other concepts. The highlight of the camp was the assembly of laptop computers.

At the end of the three-day camp, students received new Netbooks provided by Lenovo. Students attending the free camp were selected based on an essay and academic performance. This is the fourth year of the Create IT Computer Camp, sponsored by IT-oLogy and the University of South Carolina.
